ABOUT Smith Transportation Equipment (STE)

Smith Transportation Equipment (STE) is the leading manufacturer
of Airline Ground Support Equipment in the United States.

STE was founded in 1994 and is located in Byhalia, MS, just 20 miles southeast of the Memphis International Airport. STE is dedicated solely to the design and manufacture of high lift vehicles for the airline industry.

Family owned and operated, we are dedicated solely to the production of High Lift Catering Trucks. Our production facility is where all sub assemblies are manufactured.

We take pride in having control over all aspects of production. Product line ranges from models to service Regional Jets to models designed specifically to accommodate high capacity aircraft, such as the Airbus A380.

Danny & Kathy Smith

Danny and Kathy Smith, owners of Smith Transportation Equipment and Smith+Griffin, both located in Byhalia, Mississippi, bring over 50 years of combined experience in manufacturing transportation equipment. Since founding STE in 1994, the Smiths have been committed to introducing the latest and most innovative solutions to the airline ground support, agricultural equipment, loading dock, and distribution center industries.

With the recent acquisition of the assets of the former Griffin, Inc. in 2022, they have now expanded into the cash-in-transit industry as well.

Married for 40 years, Kathy and Danny have four children and seven grandchildren.
